The UT administration organised a Training Programme for interested candidates of Ladakh in Hair Styling and hair dressing - for further expanding their career opportunities in this sector. The Training was conducted by Ladakh Skill Development Mission in collaboration with the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council - an organisation supported by the National Skill Development Corporation, under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council, is an organisation aiming in enhancing the employability of the Indian workforce globally and is chaired by Dr. Blossom Kochhar. The BWSSC is helping and making the youth employable and self- employable, empowered with a certificate from the highest certifying body in Beauty & Wellness, recognised by the Government of India. The SSC is also actively involved in partnering with government run schemes, further collaborating to take forward their skilling initiatives to work with the underprivileged section of the society and to focus on women empowerment.
The training was for a total of 340 hours spread over three months. Amongst other things, it helped the participants:
- Learn to build career opportunities and growth in Hair Dressing & Styling Services.
- Understand maintenance of health and safety practices at the workplace and importance of personal hygiene and grooming while executing tasks.
- Perform basic haircuts, hair styling task, blow-drying as aligned to the standards of operation of the salon, Indian Head Massage, hair spa services using suitable products and massage techniques, hair colouring using temporary and semi-permanent colours and much more.
